"Amapondo Backpacker Lodge" is nestled in a lush, coastal forest overlooking the river valley which leads to "Second Beach" in Port St. Johns. Amapondo offers comfortable accommodation and can accommodate up to 63 guests in total.
A selection of accommodation is available from self-catering cottages and double or family rooms, to backpacker dormitories and camping. The Pondolicious bar and restaurant has a pool table where you can enjoy a game with an ice-cold beer, while you wait for a tasty meal. We also host Wednesday and Sunday night Poker for the lucky fish.
Its location is ideal for those wishing to explore the Wild Coast. Daily tours can be arranged to Silaka Nature Reserve or the Blowhole- the site of a natural phenomenon where powerful waves crash against the rocks and the pressure forces a jet of water into the sky. Other tours include a "jungle trek" to a small waterfall or a drive to the small airstrip for sundowner’s. Other local attractions include mud caves, sulphur springs and many more.
Amapondo Backpacker Lodge is a 2 minute walk to Second Beach, where you can stroll on the sandy beach or enjoy a refreshing swim in the lagoon. Port St Johns central town is only a 5km drive away where local supermarkets, arts & crafts and hardware stores can be located as well as banks and ATMs.
